Exercises For Abs – Visualization a Technique That Keeps You Motivated

Visualization is a tool which you can easily learn and apply daily. Find a quiet place, close your eyes and imagine a body you want to have. Don’t rush. Take your time and enjoy what you see. Imagine how you would feel, other people reactions and, especially, the joy. Once you have your image ready you can go back to it every time you want regardless the place. My advice is to use this technique as often as possible but at least twice a day. Let it be the first thing you do after you wake up and the last thing before you fall asleep.

The important thing you need to be aware of is the fact that visualization can be a double edge sword. If the image you created is corrupted in any way it can lead to a disaster or at least you not achieving anything. If everyone around keeps saying that you will never have a six pack because of whatever reason and you let them affect the image in your mind you have already failed. One of the ways to deal with this kind of situation is to go back to your original picture of your body and the feelings you originally felt.

If you have problems creating a dream body image in your mind there is another technique which will help. Create a poster from a magazine. It’s simple as that. You just pick a picture of a body you like, cut off the face and paste your own. Next, place the poster in the place you can easily see it everyday. In fact this technique is even more powerful than simple visualization as it involves physical tasks. You probably noticed that when you physically do something you remember it for a long time.

As you can see now it’s very simple tool to apply and follow. But you won’t get dreamed six pack if you just keep imagining it. Visualization is a very powerful technique that keeps you motivated and helps you focus on your goal but on it’s owns it won’t change your body. Only hard, consistent work can do it.

To your success!

Posters That Motivate `

What really motivates you? There are some people that will say money, possession, or family. While these things are obviously great motivators, there are also some other types of motivation that you can use especially those new ones on the rise. This is a very big thanks to all the latest and funny motivational posters that you can look forward to laughing. These types of print materials are sure to make you laugh out loud through the clever ability of these in providing hilarious positions of everyday happenings with witty and great comments. Whether you are having a hard day at your office and you need a good laugh to distract your attention from all the corporate problems and nonsense, these print materials will surely please you and make you laugh.

If you usually want to know how to make these types of posters especially for the purpose of your business, then one of the simplest yet very effective means of doing so is through attaining regular or every day scenes and situations from life and applying or incorporating a clever quip, great and funny questions regarding the image or a deadpan response to what the individual or even an animal in the image might be thinking.

Moreover, some other people who usually wants to know how to make these print materials have now found that by getting or capturing snapshots of catching people doing things that they must now do has been extremely successful and effective. Whether it is a five year old child copping the field on an attractive girl, someone who is unaware of being watched while they pick their nose or a political scene that has gone wrong, there is truly no end to how many ways you can make a great and effective print material.

And then, of course, if you really want to learn how to make these types of print materials, then one of the most tested ways of getting this task done is by capturing images of epic fails. It simply do not matter how good a person you are, as long as you know you cannot help but laugh a little but when you see people fall down, wipe out completely embarrass themselves to the publics eye. It is completely a natural thing to experience falling, but it’s more okay if it was not you who fall down and crack up a little bit at the sight of someone else failing on an epic level. Get these types of images and other deviously hilarious situations such as devastating vehicular accidents and large building falling down and you will surely attain a motivating print material that will captivate and interest all your clients and customers.

And if you have a creative mind and have the ability of creating posters in a flash, then there are plenty of great resources that you can always consider that will definitely provide you all the things that you need. However, if you do not have the basic knowledge and expertise on how to make these things for your poster printing, the internet and especially online printing companies can help you. All you have to do is to choose the right online printer that will perfectly suit your taste and business budget. Do your research and you can be sure to find the right printing company.

How To Make Your Poster Rise Above Its Equals

Each time you do poster printing, you know have to ensure that your posters are effectively produced and distributed to get value for your monetary investments and win over your business equals as well. In essence, your poster printing and poster design should be competent enough to successfully market your business to your intended audience. As you read this article, you will essentially learn how to make your posters rise above the ones printed by other companies. Make sure you put the following tips into action for a more productive poster printing. If you really want your posters to excel, you have to know how to let them go with the flow. Basically, you must not be content with the usual designs. Let them adjust according to the latest trends in the market; keep updating them. Enhance and modify your designs to be in sync with the changing times. For instance, if other competitors in the business are utilizing large-sized posters, you could consider crafting posters with different dimensions. If they are employing vibrant colors and new shapes, you could come up with something different. Revive your posters to be completely unique from them. If you want your poster printing to thrive, you need to learn how to find your feet. Don’t be discouraged; let others serve as your motivation to produce better posters. It is also important to know the needs, desires and preferences of your target audience. When it comes to the design and over-all look of your posters, you must know what your potential clients want to see and read. If you want people to focus on your posters and take no heed of the other posters around them, you have to seize and sustain their curiosity through an engaging design and content. How do you determine your market’s necessities and aspirations? Undertake a thorough research about the nature and attributes of your target market. See to it you consider those needs and wants once you produce your posters and make sure the latter fulfills these. Another thing you can do is to incorporate unique or distinct-looking components in your poster design. This is a surefire way of making your poster printing succeed. Apparently, your posters need to look different from the ones created by other businessmen. For this reason, you have to create your own, out-of-the-ordinary design for your posters. Employ various color schemes and exceptional images. Use a new style when writing your text. In so doing, you make your posters memorable and truly different from the others. You can also be aggressive in poster printing by utilizing only the best materials. Use only the materials of greatest quality. Remember, if you want to make an impact, your posters should look impeccable. Once you print cheap-looking posters, you run the risk of being perceived as cheap too. For instance, you could use thicker paper with a shiny finish to create pristine posters. Using this kind of materials will ensure that your posters will last a long time and your poster designs are always ready for competition. So never hold back; invest on topnotch quality poster printing. Last but not the least, you should place your posters in the right places to win over other competitors. If you want your posters to be read by the appropriate target market, they have to be positioned in the most apposite locations. For instance, you can place them in schools, waiting sheds, churches and other places that people go to. Make sure you disseminate your posters in a lot of places to reach out to a wider and more diverse market. This is how you get an edge over your rivals. Let these tips guide you and I’m pretty sure you can make your posters rise above the rest.

Donnie Darko

Plot

In 1988 Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal), a brilliant teenager, has been seeing a psychiatrist, as he seems to be going through a particularly painful puberty. His mother becomes worried about him, after his sister suggests over dinner that he hasn’t been taking his medication. Later that night (October 2) Donnie is awakened by a voice and goes downstairs as if sleepwalking where he meets Frank (James Duval), a man in a menacing rabbit costume. Frank tells him that in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds, the world will end. While he is outside, a jet engine crashes through Donnie’s bedroom.

Jim Cunningham (Patrick Swayze) wakes Donnie where he had fallen asleep on the golf course. Donnie notices his forearm where the numerals 28:06:42:12 are written in jagged script. Returning home he is surprised to find police and firemen have cordoned off his home. Donnie is told a jet engine has fallen through his room, although it is unknown where it came from.

As Eddie, Donnie’s father, drives him to the office of Dr. Thurman (Katharine Ross), Donnie’s therapist, Eddie nearly runs over Roberta Sparrow (Patience Cleveland), also known as “Grandma Death”: a seemingly senile old woman who spends her days walking back and forth from her house to a mailbox for a letter that never comes. Grandma Death whispers something in Donnie’s ear that startles him. It is later learned that she had whispered, “every living creature on earth dies alone.”

In his English class Donnie meets a new student, Gretchen Ross (Jena Malone). Meanwhile, Frank continues to appear to Donnie and tell him that he can do anything and will not get caught. Frank also tells Donnie about time travel, further confusing him. Donnie, apparently at Frank’s urging, commits several acts of violence against property; flooding the school and torching the home of Jim Cunningham, an inspirational speaker. Cunningham’s methods have been much admired by Kitty Farmer, one of the teachers at Donnie’s school.

Gretchen and Donnie grow closer. She is one of the few people he opens up to about his time-travel visions. Dr. Thurman increases Donnie’s medication and begins hypnotherapy with him. Frank continues to appear to Donnie.

With the inspirational speaker, Jim Cunningham, accused of running a “kiddie porn dungeon”, Kitty Farmer asks Donnie’s mother to accompany the schools dance team to LA for an appearance on the show Star Search. Donnie’s sister Elizabeth (Maggie Gyllenhaal) and Donnie decide to throw a Halloween party while their mother, Rose, and younger sister are away. The night of the party, October 30, Gretchen comes to Donnie’s house for safety because her mother has suddenly disappeared.

At midnight, Donnie realizes that the 28 days have passed, and that only 6 hours remain until the end of the world. Convinced that Grandma Death is in some way connected to Frank, Donnie persuades Gretchen and two other friends to leave the party and go with him to her house. There, they are assaulted by the high school bullies (Alex Greenwald and Seth Rogen). Gretchen is knocked unconscious and thrown into the street. An approaching car scares the bullies off but swerves to avoid Grandma Death who is standing in the road and runs directly over Gretchen. Stopping the car, Frank gets out and starts yelling at Donnie, who lifts his father’s stolen pistol and shoots Frank through his right eye (a wound seen earlier as the ‘menacing rabbit’ Frank pulled off his mask).

Grandma Death tells Donnie (Director’s cut) that he must hurry as a storm is forming and he has a lot to do. Donnie can’t wake Gretchen and ends up carrying her lifeless body to his home. There he kisses his sleeping sister’s forehead, grabs some keys and speeds away in the family car with Gretchen. We see a strange, inverted, black cloud forming over Donnie’s house. Next Donnie watches from some road in the hills above town as a tornado forms over the city. Donnie seems at peace now, as a vortex engulfs the jet his mother and sister are returning home in, apparently they are caught up in the storm above Donnie’s home. Suddenly the jet is shaken violently and we see the engine torn from the wing and begin to fall, creating a whirling pathway through the sky.

Director’s cut ending

Suddenly Donnie’s elder sister opens the family’s home’s front door, closes it, and leans against the door, as she had done at the beginning of the film. Her father is asleep in his chair. Donnie, lying upstairs in his bed, starts to laugh maniacally, then the noise grows as the house begins to shake violently. Donnie is now seen asleep in his bed. As the house starts to fall apart, we see his mother in her bed as the massive jet engine that had, only minutes before, fallen from the plane carrying his mother and sister, crashes through Donnie’s bedroom.

Theatrical version ending

In the theatrical version it is once again October 2. Donnie is once again in bed, having possibly travelled back in time to create an ontological paradox, where his future self takes the place of his past self. On this occasion Donnie has returned to his bed, where in the beginning of the film he had followed a strange voice, as he walked outside and met Frank. As he laughs maniacally, a jet engine crashes through the roof, killing him.

Common ending

All the people affected by Donnie’s actions are then shown in short scenes that briefly reference the events as they happen with Donnie never having taken his walk to meet Frank. The Tears For Fears’ song “Mad World”, covered by Gary Jules, is played with the words matching the scenes. As Donnie’s body is taken away, Gretchen, having never met Donnie, rides by the Darkos’ house on her bicycle. She learns from a neighborhood boy about what has just happened and then waves to Donnie’s mother who stands smoking a cigarette.

Writer/director Richard Kelly does not deny the validity of personal interpretations, but has expressed his own theories through the extra commentary on the two DVDs, and in various other interviews.

According to Kelly and his fictional Philosophy of Time Travel, at midnight on October 2 – a Tangent Universe branches off the Primary Universe around the time when Donnie is called out of his bedroom by Frank, immediately before the appearance of the Artifact, the faulty jet engine. The inherently unstable Tangent Universe will collapse in just over 28 days and take the Primary Universe with it if not corrected. Closing the Tangent Universe is the duty of the Living Receiver, Donnie, who wields certain supernatural powers to help him in the task.

Those who die within the Tangent Universe (and would not have died otherwise) are the Manipulated Dead (Frank, Gretchen). Frank, at least, is also given certain powers in that he is able to subtly understand what is happening and have the ability to contact and influence the Living Receiver via the Fourth Dimensional Construct (water). All others within the orbit of the Living Receiver are the Manipulated Living (e.g. Ms. Pomeroy, Dr. Monnitoff), subconsciously drawn to push him towards his destiny to close the Tangent Universe and, according to the Philosophy of Time Travel, die by the Artifact.

Frank appears in the story in two guises (three guises if we assume that he ‘never’ dies on account of the restoration of the Primary Universe through the negation of the Tangent Universe). First, there is the Manipulated Dead Frank who appears to Donnie as a premonition from the future of the Tangent Universe in the disturbing rabbit suit. Dead Frank is aware of Donnie’s fate and destiny, and impels him to realize it so that the Primary Universe can be restored at the point where/when the Tangent Universe branched off from it. Secondly, Frank appears alive as Donnie’s sister’s boyfriend, whose fate unfolds within the Tangent Universe by means of Donnie’s successes in realizing his mission. This living boyfriend is fatally shot by Donnie towards the end of the film, a killing which was foreseen by Donnie.

The Long Beach, California home used in Donnie Darko as the fictional, upscale home of motivational speaker Jim Cunningham.

Donnie Darko was filmed in 28 days on a budget of $4.5 million. It almost went straight to home video release but was publicly released by the production company Flower Films.

The film was shot in California. The “Carpathian ridge” scenes were shot on the Angeles Crest Highway. Loyola High School, a prominent Catholic school in Los Angeles, California, was used as Donnie’s high school. The house where the Darko family lives is located in Long Beach, California. Donnie awakens in a golf course in Long Beach, California; the hotel where his family lodges is the Burbank, California, Holiday Inn; and the Aero theater where Donnie and Gretchen watch the double feature is a cinema in Santa Monica, California.

The home of Patrick Swayze’s character, Jim Cunningham, is at 4252 Country Club Drive Long Beach, California.

Music

Main article: Donnie Darko (soundtrack)

In 2003, composer Michael Andrews and singer Gary Jules found their piano-driven cover of the Tears for Fears’ hit “Mad World”, featured in the film as part of the end sequence, and the song was the UK Christmas Number One single in 2003. One continuous sequence involving an introduction of Donnie’s high school prominently features the song “Head Over Heels” by Tears for Fears, Samantha’s dance group, “Sparkle Motion,” performs with the song “Notorious” by Duran Duran, and “Under the Milky Way” by The Church is played after Donnie and Gretchen emerge from his room during the party. “Love Will Tear Us Apart” by Joy Division also appears in the film diegetically during the party and shots of Donnie and Gretchen upstairs. However, the version included was released in 1995, although the film is set in 1988. The opening sequence is set to “The Killing Moon” by Echo & the Bunnymen. In the theatrical cut, the song playing during the Halloween party is “Proud to be Loud” by Pantera, a track released on their 1988 album, which would concide with the time setting of the film. However, the band is credited as “The Dead Green Mummies”.

In the re-released Director’s Cut version of the film, the music in the opening sequence is replaced by “Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS; “Under the Milky Way” is moved to the scene of Donnie and his father driving home from Donnie’s meeting with his therapist; and “The Killing Moon” is played as Gretchen and Donnie return to the party from Donnie’s parents’ room.

Release

The limited release of the film occurred during the month after the September 11 attacks. It was subsequently held back for almost a year for international release, where it garnered more favorable reviews.[citation needed] From this point, a large cult following for the movie began. Its DVD release gained an increased American audience for the film.

Marketing

The Donnie Darko Book, written by Richard Kelly, is a 2003 book about the film. It includes an introduction by Jake Gyllenhaal, the screenplay of the Donnie Darko Director’s Cut, an in-depth interview with Kelly, facsimile pages from the Philosophy of Time Travel, photos and drawings from the film, and artwork it inspired.

NECA released first a six-inch (15 cm) figure of Frank the Bunny and later a foot-tall (30 cm) ‘talking’ version of the same figure.

Home video

The film was originally released on DVD and VHS in March 2002. Strong DVD sales led Newmarket Films to release a “Director’s Cut” on DVD in 2004. Bob Berney, President of Newmarket Films, described the film as “a runaway hit on DVD,” citing United States sales of more than $10 million.

The director’s cut of the film was released on May 29, 2004, in Seattle, Washington, at the Seattle International Film Festival and later in New York City and Los Angeles on July 23, 2004. This cut includes twenty minutes of extra footage, an altered soundtrack, the director’s commentary assisted by Kevin Smith, the director’s interpretation, and visual excerpts from the book The Philosophy of Time Travel. The director’s cut DVD, released on February 15, 2005, included the new footage and more soundtrack changes, as well as some additional features exclusive to the two-DVD set: excerpts from the storyboard, a 52-minute production diary, “#1 fan video,” a “cult following” video interviewing British fans, and the new director’s cut cinematic trailer. The director’s cut DVD was released as a giveaway with copies of the British Sunday Times newspaper on February 19, 2006.

The film was released on Blu-ray on February 10, 2009.

Reception

Box office performance

Donnie Darko had its first screening at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19, 2001, and debuted in United States theaters in October 2001 to a tepid response. Shown on only 58 screens nationwide, the film grossed $110,494 in its opening weekend. By the time the film closed in United States theaters on April 11, 2002, it had earned just $517,375. It ultimately grossed $4.1 million worldwide.

Despite its poor box office showing, the film began to attract a devoted fan base. It was originally released on DVD and VHS in March 2002. During this time, the Pioneer Theatre in New York City’s East Village began midnight screenings of Donnie Darko that continued for 28 consecutive months.

Critical reception

The film received widespread critical acclaimotten Tomatoes gave the film an 84% rating (the Director’s Cut received 91%), while Metacritic gave it a 71 out of 100 (the Director’s Cut received 88 out of 100). Critic Andy Bailey billed Donnie Darko as a “Sundance surprise” that “isn’t spoiled by the Hollywood forces that helped birth it.” Jean Oppenheimer of New Times (LA) praised the film, saying, “Like gathering storm clouds, Donnie Darko creates an atmosphere of eerie calm and mounting menace — stands as one of the most exceptional movies of 2001.” Writing for ABC Australia, Megan Spencer called the movie, “menacing, dreamy, [and] exciting” and noted that “it could take you to a deeply emotional place lying dormant in your soul.” At first when the movie was released, Roger Ebert gave the film a less than positive review but later became more enamored by the film after seeing the release of the director’s cut.

Sequel

Main article: S. Darko

A 2009 sequel, S. Darko, centers on Samantha Darko, Donnie’s younger sister. Again played by Daveigh Chase, Samantha begins to have strange dreams that hint at a major catastrophe. Donnie Darko creator Richard Kelly has stated that he has no involvement in this sequel, as he does not own the rights to the original. Daveigh and producer Adam Fields are the only creative links between it and the original film. The sequel received mostly negative reviews.

Adaptations

Marcus Stern, Associate Director of the American Repertory Theater, directed a staged adaptation of Donnie Darko at the Zero Arrow Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the fall of 2007. It ran from October 27 to November 18, 2007, with opening night fittingly scheduled on Halloween. An article written by the production dramaturg stated that the director and production team planned to “embrace the challenge to make the fantastical elements come alive on stage.” In 2004, Stern adapted and directed Kelly’s screenplay for a graduate student production at the American Repertory Theatre’s Institute for Advanced Theatre Training (I.A.T.T./M.X.A.T.).

A 60 second version was created for the Empire Film Awards by Tea Fuelled Art

Whether you are an organization of 25 or 5,000, one of the greatest obstacles to a well run team is getting your managers and employees to consistently treat your clients and customers right.

Far too often, the customer service training program that is completed gets mediocre results. The employee of the month program seems to die a quiet death. The Motivational Posters urging employees to excel in being a team player and delivering excellent service appear to be useless. What is the missing link that will bind these and other reinforces together to create the changes you want?

Consistently using a system for providing positive reinforcement to your managers and employees when they “do right” is the golden key. Remember, having a system and not using it is no better than not having one at all.

First identify the behavior and results you want to see. Both you and your employees need to be tuned into the same channel for the kind of customer service you want delivered. Their perception of what good service is can be quite a bit different from your perception.

Make sure you positively reinforce any improvements you see in behavior. One way to do this is tell the individual directly. It might sound like, “Sally, you did a good job in handling that last customer’s concern. By asking the right questions and listening, you were able to help him resolve the issue he was experiencing. That’s the kind of service we want to deliver”.

By telling Sally that she asked the right questions, listened and was able to resolve the customer’s issue, reinforced her behavior of using the right questions to resolve the concern.

As the saying goes, “never expect what you don’t first inspect”. If you want the right behavior from your employees, be sure to inspect it as they do it. This way you can help them make the necessary adjustments. It is vital that you continue to periodically reinforce the right behavior. How often do you continue to periodically reinforce the right behavior. How often do you reinforce it? A good rule of thumb is a lot in the beginning and intermittently after that. Three of the most powerful ways to reinforce behavior are:

1. One-on-one verbal “atta boys or atta girls”

2. Praise the individual in front of others.

3. “Talk behind their back”. Praise the individual when he or she is not present (word of your praise will usually get back to them by way of the grapevine.)

In conclusion, identify the type of service results and behavior you want, and be sure to systematically reinforce it. Be consistent and persistent and your managers and employees will follow through with quality service you want them to provide.

Today, more and more directors of patient financial service departments face increasing challenges while trying to prevent employee morale from bottoming out during the myriad changes occurring in the health care landscape. Patient accounting personnel are witnessing constant changes in how they are required to do their jobs. These changes are being fueled by many factors, including emerging technology, mergers and acquisitions, downsizing, conversions to new billing systems, stringent claims filing deadlines, modifications to billing forms, and complex contracts for nearly all payers.

Get Your Staff Involved. One proven method of keeping workers full of zest and energy is to “empower” them. Empowerment is the process of giving your staff the power, authority, control and opportunity to excel.

As this related to patient accounting, empowered staff members would have autonomy over their own accounts. They would be given a wide range of flexibility in performing their job tasks, including the power to make the necessary decisions to solve problems, establish receivable target goals and develop qualitative process improvements.

Empowerment can bring a sense of excitement and pride to the workplace. Here are five suggestions that you may want to consider when determining ways to empower your staff.

1. Develop team spirit. Divide the patient accounts personnel into self-directed teams. Let them decide how accounts will be divided between them. Assignments could be made by payer-split, alphabetical-spit, financial class, age, balance or team-split. Tell your staff what the end result should be, and request their help in achieving that goal.

Allow your staff to meet weekly for about 30 minutes per session to brainstorm on strategies to solve group problems. Give them the information they need to develop solutions by allowing them to monitor receivable indicators through system-generated reports, such as:

Weekly aged-trial balance reports Billing reports by billers Outstanding balance reports by collectors Electronic exception reports Recovery analysis reports Billed and unbilled reports

View yourself as a coach and team leader. Guide your staff toward active involvement in the ongoing effort to become top-notch. Ask the teams to submit weekly status reports detailing reasons for negative trends or other areas of potential concern, along with weekly action plans.

It’s important to keep in mind that it’s the manager who is accountable for the effective teamwork of subordinate team members. The teams should not be able to change your targeted specifications. They shouldn’t change the nature of the work that has to be done, but they should be able to create the best way to accomplish the work.

2. Have the business office staff assist you in developing receivables goals for all areas of accounts receivable management. Instill your staff with a sense of initiative by involving them in establishing their own receivables targets. A few goals and objectives could be:

Appropriate dollars outstanding for each section of receivables. Acceptable number of weekly rejection notices resolved. Acceptable collection totals by collector. Appropriate number of monthly patient complaints. Acceptable number of required rebills. Acceptable percentage of receivables aged over 90 days. Acceptable backlog of mail returns. Acceptable backlog of patient correspondence. Number of weekly bills produced which are complete, accurate and clean. Acceptable weekly cash collections. Acceptable validity rate of electronic billings. Appropriate time frames for answering correspondence. Acceptable days revenue outstanding. Appropriate methods of resolving patient complaints. Broadcast the goals, and write a few of them on posters to be placed in high-visibility areas around the business office. The more staff thinks about their goals, the more enthusiastic they will become.

3. Train, train, train. Make training a top priority since it can provide your staff with the skill and confidence they need to be successful when changes occur in the workplace. Keep in mind that power comes from knowing what to do, knowing when to do it, and doing it in the correct sequence. Training motivates employees and increases their productivity. Try the following training tips:

Arrange for provider representatives of the large carriers to provide workshops and seminars regarding the do’s and don’ts of billing. Ask your collection vendors to stop by and bat around difference collection techniques that can be used at all points of service. Have your software vendors show your staff how to fully utilize all menus and screens, thus ensuring that you make the most of your patient accounting system. Train patient access personnel on best ways to improve collection of co-payments at time of registration.

4. Listen carefully. Actively seek comments, observations and suggestions from front-end employees all the way through to back-end collectors. This will help to keep them involved and motivated. It’s crucial that patient accounts personnel be confident that their thoughts and ideas are respected and valued by the supervisor and patient accounts manager.

Listen attentively to all feedback. For example, if a team is having difficulty locating patient folders or the needed remittance advices for secondary billing, encourage them to develop ways of improving their access to this information.

5. Provide feedback on results. Providing feedback is a vital ingredient in effective receivable management since patient accounting personnel, like most other employees, crave as much attention as they can get. Try the following:

Do daily spot-check of insurance verification, primary and secondary billings, cash postings, collection comments and incoming correspondence. Talk to staff daily for the purpose of reinforcing positive performance and providing direct nonjudgmental feedback. Devise monthly accounts receivables performance graphs, and post team results on a large blackboards in visible areas in the business office. Hold all individuals and teams accountable for quality output in improving receivables. When goals are reached, be sure to give plenty of high fives. Boost morale whenever possible.

Employee-Driven Work Environments. We are seeing more and more signs of employee anxiety and frustration as our industry continues to experience rapid changes and turbulent times. Negative emotions are being fueled by the overriding fears of staff that they to may be downsized as automation increases while mergers and acquisitions remain prevalent.

Employees are a hospital’s most valued assets. It’s important to remember that you can’t ask patient accounts personnel to continually change the way they perform their work unless they retain some control of the factors that influence the performance of their jobs.

Employee-driven work environments help staff to respond to change much more effectively. The entire business office will benefit by recognizing that the combined knowledge and creativity of patient accounting personnel is at the heart of good receivable management.

Top 9 Fitness Gifts for a Healthy 2009

If you’ve hit a wall and can’t figure out what to get that “hard to buy for” person in your life…I think I can help. Why not give them the gift of fitness?

I mean, who DOESN’T want to look and perform better? Now, I am not talking about some whiz bang gizmo that will do nothing but waste your money…I am talking some really cool ideas that will bring big smiles and great results this holiday season.

Here are the Top 9 Holiday Gifts that will help keep your family and friends healthy, fit and fat free for 2009:

1.) A Foam Roller

If you’re like most, you are super busy now days. When you aren’t running errands, you’re hunched over a desk, slumped in front of the TV, chasing down the kids…or you’re doing something else.

So who has time for proper and safe stretching every day?

That’s when you grab for the foam roller. It’s an amazing little self-massage tool that will immediately help you loosen tight muscles, improve movement and reduce the chance for injury. It’s perfect for a quick 5 minute post-workout routine to start the muscle healing process from that intense interval training you do (or should be doing to lose body fat). Plus, the roller kneads and lengthens your muscles to alleviate nagging aches in your upper body, back, legs, hips, arms and shoulders.

2.) Resistance Bands

By far, the most convenient and affordable training equipment option for most fitness enthusiasts, beginners or experienced athletes.

Portability for awesome workouts and versatility for fun workout variety…enough said, right? If you’re a busy parent, grab one and get a quick routine right in your own home. If you need more or less resistance, bands are available in different sizes. What could be easier?

3.) Gift Card to Sporting Goods Supply Store (Fitness Equipment/Apparel Items)

This is an easy one. Swing into Sports Authority, Sports Chalet, etc and pick up a gift card in most any denomination. This is awesome, because now the recipient gets to choose the right color, right size and the right item. Perfect!

4.) Gift Card to Health Food Store (Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Sprouts, etc.)

Everyone has to buy groceries, so why help them make healthier food choices? Of course, nutritionally supportive food is critical to any healthy lifestyle and this is a great place to start.

5.) Spa/Massage Therapist Gift Card

Most of us are super busy and so tense from the hustle of day to day life, we sometimes forget to stop take a break…and feel the healing power of a massage! Although we already talked about the amazing benefits a foam roller will provide, but nothing replaces a day in the hands of a trained masseuse.

6.) Supplements That Actually Work: Quality Protein, Fish Oil, Multi-Vitamins

There are so many “wonder” products for nutrition, it is downright confusing…so let’s narrow it down to few key ones that provide proven benefits.

Quality protein powder can provide a quick fix on the go, a nutritionally balance supplement to any healthy diet, especially after a high intensity interval workout.

Fish oil (or more accurately described as an EFA ‘essential fatty acid’ supplement) is paramount to giving your body the proper amount of omega 3’s to maximize your overall health, fitness ability and body healing and recovery. Another thing, you should also look for “krill oil”, which has been shown to provide the most effective dosing of EFAs.

A high quality multi-vitamin provides the right balance of nutrients a lot of us typically lack. Since nobody’s dietary intake is PERFECT, we can all benefit from a good vitamin. Here’s the catch…you need to make sure it is made from whole foods, not synthetic material and be certain it is made specifically for your gender.

7.) Sport Specific Gifts

Simple stuff here…you have a baseball player on your list. They might really love a new bat or set of batting gloves. Football fan who loves the New York Jets? A new Brett Favre jersey might be the ticket. Steeler’s fan (like me) on your list? A snazzy new t-shirt might just be the winning idea. Even something as inexpensive as a team keychain can be a very cool gift.

8.) Fitness Book or Sport Magazine Subscription

Men’s Health or Women’s Health magazines are great choices…and the fitness book list is virtually endless. Pick a topic, pick a sport, pick an activity, pick a player…there are a ton of books available. Hit your local bookstore or online site like Amazon. Again, you can’t lose.

9.) A Gift Card to a Fitness Boot Camp

This is by far the most exciting, fun and motivating workout environment for beginners to avid fitness enthusiasts. Because boot camp workouts allow participants to excel at their own pace under the guidance of a personal trainer in a group setting, this is an excellent investment for anyone looking to jump start their training or try something new.

Plus, look for camps to be confident enough in their programs to offer free trials or money back guarantee for all newcomers. If the program is a good fit, you’re likely to continue the program and see great results.

So join a camp with a friend or family member, or simply pick up the tab for a loved one. It’s a heck of a lot cheaper than hiring a trainer for 1-on-1 sessions, and the it’s a lot more fun too.

Trust me when I say that boot camp workouts, regardless of your current fitness ability, can change the way you look at effective exercise and will have you and your loved ones feeling slimmer and stronger in 2009.

Have an amazing holiday and happy New Year everyone!

Who has put the pressure on you? What are you thinking that has put you in that state? What new ‘rules’ about time could you take on board to change your current experience of reality?

When the clock on your wall says 10:00AM and you have something due to be presented to another person at 11:00AM you may feel less relaxed about the activity and produce a lower quality product than if you believed you had an abundance of time and only focused on the task.

Believing the latter, and focusing on producing a good quality product may even find you finishing the task ahead of time and find yourself pleased with the end product.

How often do you use “time” as the excuse for an inferior product or use time as the excuse for not being able to think clearly because you are hurried? Is that honestly a valid excuse or simply a handy one?

Many of us readily accept the belief that when we are having fun, time flies, and when we’re not involved in an enjoyable activity, the time seems to drag. Yet the Earth does not suddenly rotate around the Sun at a different rate of speed, during any of those moments.

Where does that time perception originate and what does that tell us about our personal interpretations and global, made-up rules about time?

Work on ways to shift your relationship to time and on creating new thoughts that empower the ways that you view your experiences Set yourself a new set of rules and change your perceptions and feelings about what is happening in the moment.

As also promised, the following are a few very quick and simple time tips for you. A Time Abundance poster that you might enjoy sharing with friends can be downloaded from www.forwardsteps.com.au/TimeAbundancePoster.pdf

Brand: Unleash the power within

Branding: Unleash the power within

What is a Brand?

Brand is an identification of a company and its products. It can be in the form of logo, symbol, color or just a name. This identification helps distinguish itself among its competitors.

Creation of brand is not just creating a logo or byline statement or a symbol. It is the creation of experience, which would make the customer, want more and more of it. An experience, which can create strong positive emotions, something that can lead the customer to trust and become loyal to it. First thing that qualifies a company or product to be a brand is the ability to create emotions. Brand has to be associated or should trigger emotions.

Logos, colors, symbols, statements, advertisements and promotions are the main tools for the communication of a brand. Now coming to the main point of the article -Unleashing the power of brand internally & unveil a new power, i.e. Internal Branding or promoting the brand internally among employees so that they are aware of the capabilities of the company and are proud to be working for it. With the help of internal branding, a new source of powering the brand comes to force. All employees are people who connect with the outside environment after office hours. All positive vibes sent out by employees to their friends, neighbors, relatives, etc creates a compounding effect on the image of the company.

The pride the employee shows to be working for an organization itself speaks volume about the company. The manner in which employee behaves itself portrays or communicates something about the image of the company. It can be either positive or negative. So how do we go about the internal branding? How do we harness this hidden power?

First Step:

To be able to harness this power, there needs to be a synergy between the organization and the employee, a bonding, or you can say an environment in which the individual can thrive and bring out his best for the company. Every organization has a different culture and every individual a different temperament, this should match. I hope I have made the point now. So lets move ahead

The whole process starts with recruiting, recruiting people who can gel in with the organization. Any Employee joining the organization or selected to join the organization needs to be evaluated in terms of his personal characteristics.

What about existing employees?

In case of existing employees they need to be conditioned to behave or exhibit certain characteristics as deemed fit. All this is possible only with the motivation of the individual and Focus.

In a company the employees are the first customers of the brand and the brand should be able to fulfill their promises. Brand is also the outcome of all the company employees’ efforts; so they need to give in their best to the brand.

Who is responsible for Internal Branding?

Internal Branding is the responsibility of the Top management/Leadership or the Brand Manager in charge of the particular brand. Alternatively the best solution is to have a team of Marketing, Admin and Finance guy to form an internal branding team.

Some tactics to internalize the brand:

Brand the atmosphere

The workplace atmosphere affects the way the person works. Put on the posters of the brand and its promise or attribute visible to everyone. The brand promise visibility in the office should be exceptional.

For eg: Put up a notice board and highlight every day some news about the brand progress or send an email to everyone on the update or the progress made by the brand or by the executive working on the product. (I don’t mean a formal email stating simple fact what has been done, an email, which evokes passion, smile and motivate. Some time an email with good intentioned criticism also helps to push people, personal notes by leaders inspire staff)

Team Involvement:

Ask for suggestion, start in a forum where ideas can be discussed openly without the fear/hesitation of organization hierarchy, but make it clear who the decision maker is. Keep everyone informed. Keep the buzz on don’t ever give the guys time to slack down. Keep them charged, keep them interested

Responsibility, Credit & Incentive:

Give out Responsibility and authority to carry it out and give credit where it’s due. There is nothing like incentives, which can really motivate people along with appreciation. Give out a ” Champs of the month” in various functions for the brand like marketing, admin, customer service, sales, merchandising, etc

Brand Training

You might have heard of product training, but brand training is different and unique. Educate, Reinforce and inculcate the attributes that really make the brand stand out amongst the other competitor in the employees.

If necessary, Spoon-feed the staff on the behavior that compliments the brands, especially the staff that will come in contact with the outside world.

In simple terms each of your employee has to be a brand ambassador. Let everyone hear the facts and things that need to be projected for the brand.

Brand Culture Development

Create & promote the culture of the brand in your organization, as most of the brand guru has said LIVE THE BRAND. Develop the culture in your organization that reflects the brand nature.

Once done, you might have single brand but 100 to 200-brand ambassadors (depending on the number of employees) projecting your brand everyday to the world. If I summarize, Internal Branding can create salesman out of every employee and who ever comes in contact with your employee will be influenced by the brand.
