Youth Motivational Speakers

If you’re looking for a motivational speaker for your school, considering searching Google under the term youth motivational speakers. Anyone worth considering will come up quickly on Google.

There are a billion youth motivational speakers out there. If you’re an activities director, leadership teacher or school administrator, your mailbox is probably stuffed with their brochures and postcards. All of them promise to change the lives of your students, but how do you know which youth speakers can really deliver what they promise? The last thing you want is to put someone in front of your students who can’t hold their attention.

I highly recommend you find your motivational speaker on the web. It may seem simple, but the best speakers do tend to rank high. Google led me to one motivational speaker – Scott Greenberg. He’s considered one of the top youth motivational speakers in North America, and has considerable experience at schools and student conferences. I hadn’t seen him before.

Another option is to use a speakers bureau. Be sure to tell them you want a youth motivational speaker, as many corporate presenters don’t know how to connect with teens. Asking around to other schools and student organization has also been a source for some good speakers.

Finally, if you’ve been happy with some of the youth motivational speakers you’ve used in the past, ask them for recommendations. They’re out there in the industry and will be familiar with who’s out there, their skill level and their price range.

Speakers for youth can really make a difference for your student group. Take time to find the right people and you’ll see the difference in your students.

One thing that you have to understand is that personal motivation is internal. Motivation is the willingness of someone or a team to expand their energy in order to achieve a goal. Of course, you can say that it’s a psychological phenomenon.

Leaders should be followed and not to be obeyed just because of their positions. If they are followed, then it means that they have inspired the people that are following them. But if they are obeyed just because of their positions they hold, then it means they are forcing people to do things unwillingly.

If you have employed people, you should motivate them. Why am I telling you this? You see, without employee’s personal motivation all other resources would be ineffective. No matter how much machinery and other modern equipment you install in your organization, they will remain unproductive if the employees who are supposed to operate them are not motivated.

Many organizations are facing challenges regarding employees complains. Majority of the organizations that have failed to address these complains have experienced losses. The losses are in the form of employee’s strikes, wastage of organization raw materials and careless operation of machines.

Six Ways of Boosting Employees Personal Motivation

1. All employees require sufficient money to meet their daily needs and to be able to provide for their families. The organization can energize them by increasing their salaries, giving them bonus or even through profit sharing initiative.

2. An organization should engage its staff in decision making process. If it does this, then its staff has a sense of belonging and this motivates them. They know that they are recognized by the organization.

3. Job enrichment makes employees to work well. An organization should give them a chance in deciding certain routine things because this creates excitement and interests in them. Assigning them a complete project, delegating them additional authority and giving them organizations reports directly are examples on how to enrich the job.

4. There should be a proper communication between the employees and the management. The management should give employees the necessary information they need to know on how to solve their problems within the organization. An effective upward and downward communication determines the effectiveness of the already set policies.

5. The terms of employment such as opportunities for promotions to existing employees, leave allowances and other perquisites (fringe benefits) available to employees highly motivates them.

6. High morale is associate with high productive. If there is high morale among employees, then there is high probability that the organization is going to achieve its desired results. An organization should be able to implement the factors that boost employee’s morale which later on transform to personal motivation.

The chats and forums are geared in helping you. You get to learn a lot from them. Solve your problems and other peoples.
Making Videos For Online Video Sites Like YouTube – Safety Tips You Should Know

—-> Watch the 2010 Football Season Online Download (latest version)

Do you enjoy creating short videos or motion pictures? If you do, you will love land sites like YouTube, Google Video etc.. YouTube and like are on line telecasting partaking web sites that lets net exploiters, like you, upload videos that they got to the internet site, where they can be watched by others. Although it is playfulness and exciting to create and share your ain televisions, you will desire to expose some circumspection when doing indeed. Sending tvs on YouTube and like can be unsafe, specially if improperly done. That is why it is suggested that you constantly hold cyberspace prophylactic in the back of your mind, when making your You Tube Google videos.

Maybe, the most of import base hit top that you necessitate to think of is to protect your indistinguishability. You will desire to forbear from citing your name in your on line videos, specially your full epithet. You will besides desire to forbear from referring your speech in any of your Google, YouTube and vimeo videos etc.. While you may cogitate that referring the city or town that you live in is o.k., equally long as you don’t give your street address, you may desire to rethink doing indeed. There are a pack of cyberspace exploiters who are resourceful ; with the correct info, they can easy find out important information about you, including where you live.

One of the grounds why YouTube is hence democratic, away from the fact that you can watch or upload pics to the You Tubing land site free of charge, is the fact that you can place, go forth remarks, or talk about YouTube telecastings with other cyberspace exploiters. If you verbalise with sure fellow members plenty you may end up developing a close online friendly relationship with them. Stock still, it is reded that you go along the antecedently observed base hit tip in mind ; do not give out any of your personal entropy. Whenever you apply the cyberspace, whether you are habituating YouTube or not, you ask to think of that it is hard, if not unimaginable, to swan who is riding behind the computer display on the other ending of your conversation. Disregarding what online substitutions take place, you will desire to protect your identicalness.

When it comes to internet users further exploring you, many on line telecasting submitters question why anyone would do such a thing. While different souls have different needs, you should forever get into that those motivations are not in your best pursuit. As said above, different cyberspace users have different needs, but one thing that looks to propel them is seductive or attractive looking cyberspace exploiters. Yet if you are making a television web log or a drollery skit, you will desire to hold a close middle on your show. Naturally, you will desire to look your best, but you desire without doubt not to take it to a fault far, as many can misread your aims ; possibly setting you in hurts way.

—-> Stream Movies (latest version)

It is likewise apprized that you be careful with what you mail on line, if you are stimulating a video of yourself and your quakers. You necessitate to make sure that all video stars know your purposes of branding the TV for partaking in on YouTube or any of the other on line television websites. If you have a TV that you snapped frankly, you need to utilise your best judgement. You desire to be cautious of impressing on anyone’s privateness, as it may not exclusively chew over negatively on you, but it may besides shoot down you in hot water. It is too proposed that you forbear from sending clips of moving picture shows, television shows, or music tvs that you do not have rights to. This is a infraction of right of first publication. In most cases, your YouTube TV will only be forced, but, in rare representatives, you may be faced with action.

The antecedently adverted base hit tops are exactly a couple of of the many that you will require to keep in psyche, when piddling a video to upload on to the You-Tube, Google etc.. Altogether honestness, it is best if you exactly apply your best judgement. Should you experience uncomfortable doing something, like precisely creating a YouTube, Google or Vimeo video in the main, you are proposed to listen to your intestine, as it is oft the best signal of problem to come.

Do you ever wonder why some tweets get noticed and retweeted dozens or hundreds of times while others get lots in the noise? Here are some tips to help you post retweetable tweets that get noticed.

Make your tweet short enough to be retweeted

You’ve got 140 characters to send out a tweet. But if I retweet that tweet, I’ve got to have room to add RT @yourusername. Â

For example, if I see this 47 character tweet:

RandomTweeter: “Cool motivational quote I like.” -Attribution

Then when I retweet it, it will become 66 characters:

MyTwitterID: RT @RandomTweeter: “Cool motivational quote I like.” -Attribution

So if your tweets are all 120-140 characters, it will be difficult for people to retweet you. Count how many characters are in your Twitter ID and add 4 (for RT @). That’s how many characters under the 140 tweet limit you need to stay to allow people to retweet you easily.

How can you shorten your tweets?

Tip #1: Use a link shortener. If you tweet through HootSuite, there’s a built in link shortener. You can also go to one of the many link shortener sites like TinyURL, Bit.ly, and Ow.ly.

Tip #2: Abbreviate. Use 2 instead of to, 4 instead of for or four, etc. Tweets don’t have to be grammatically correct.

Tip #3: Only include what’s necessary. Instead of “There’s a new post on my blog: Title, Link” try something like “New post: Title, Link” or just “Title, Link” and save space.

Is there a best time of the day or day of the week to tweet if you’re hoping to be retweeted? Dan Zarrella has the answer to that question. In his report, “Science of ReTweets” the best time of the day is 3pm to midnight and the best day of the week is Friday. That’s when the most retweets were happening on Twitter. For even more fascinating retweet statistics get your copy of his free report at http://danzarrella.com.

What else can you do to help your tweets get retweeted?

Tweet things worthy of being retweeted. Share helpful tips and information. Link to great resources on your site and other websites. Share jokes or puns. Tweet inspirational quotes.Â

Use #hashtags that relate to your tweet, like #quote or #football or #smallbiz You can find popular #hashtags at What the Trend.

Add TweetMeMe Retweet Button to your blog. If you’re a blogger and want to get your posts retweeted, add this plugin to make it easier for readers to retweet you.

Retweet others. Yes, the golden rule applies even on Twitter. If you want tweeters to retweet you, then retweet them.

a good, short football quote?

im making a shirt for my high school (American) football team and i need a good short saying for the back of the shirt, something that’s motivational or inspirational…
thanks :]

The Power & Benefits of Free Thinking Part 1

Chapter of the Book The Layman’s spiritual Psychology of Money-phology

Part 1

The Power & Benefits of Free Thinking

The aim: is to get you to identify the logic and structure of thinking, motivate you to think about thinking and consequence, stimulate and should inspire you to take the first step to train the mind in the art of thinking.

Objective: By the end of the chapter, you would have grasped and understood the importance of thinking. You will be able to use the tools of thinking, e.g. lateral thinking course or a course in philosophy, you will appreciate logic, become confident and empowered in the art of freethinking. You will be able to make sound decision, plan effectively, build successful relationships, read, write, speak in a straightforward prose, and start creating big dreams.

The Benefits of Free thinking Step #1

You may explore Free Thinking for the first time, may trigger anxiety, and pain as when I joined a philosophy program for the first time, but the rewards that shook and took me from being an illiterate to a free thinker was awesome, so while experiencing little pain, there are other benefits:

You shift from being an oblivious or naive, indoctrinated number in the equation of mankind who sleep walk following the system; to someone who begins to find out what’s really going on.

You begin to identify errors in the language of logic that the Matrix and ordinary people use, you begin to think freely, and you start questioning all kinds of things.

Your free thinking ability increases as you begin to understand what’s going on in the world, and your knowledge of how political and economic systems are designed, and what motives are behind it, and who is the ruling class benefiting from such systems, (taxes, credit cards services, policy makers etc.) increase dramatically.

You develop high sensory perception as to how you decide, what action to take, and how to ensure success in every challenging situation.

The Benefits of Free Thinking Step #2

You begin to experience that you’re not a helpless victim of the Matrix, once you have come to full realisation of your ” own error belief system” and that there are many new ideas based on fact and rigorous study and creative thinking to increase your personal freedom, in order to get out from the prisoners of beliefs circle.

You get to run the system rather than the system runs you; you get to think freely rather than someone else running your thinking for you, you get to keep all your assets, rather than kept by the system; you get to protect your assets and keep all the money you earn, sweat money, if you seek to understand the legal way to pay no tax.

Your develop a sense of free sovereignty, pride and integrity increase speedily.

You begin to learn how to overcome your fears of the Matrix. (policy makers, authorities, and ideologists)

You will feel majestic, and as someone who rose beyond and above the unintelligent life,

Your develop sensory acuity, value your service or product, increasing its value and establishing solid integrity

The Benefits of Free Thinking Step #3

Much of men and women’s action occurs without prior thought. In fact, at this level of action, “justification” is often used after the fact to prove that the action was “necessary” As a result of engaging in Freethinking Step #2, you will rise like an eagle producing outstanding results you never thought possible.

If you don’t know how and where to start free thinking, philosophy is the answer, otherwise, there are many great thinkers who provide guidance, literatures on freethinking. Edward De Bono is one great strategist in the art of thinking.

Philosophy have a dramatic way to shape your thinking also, and can guide you to the right source of applied thinking skills to produce spectacular results.

Philosophy is for and where each and every free thinking enthusiast must begin, regardless of your creed, religion, culture, gender or education, I was in my twenties suffering from illiteracy, not only my first language was not English I also could not speak a word of English, this why I am confident that practically anybody can develop their thinking skills to the degree that they reach similar or much better results than I.

You become much more conscious of your actions and the consequences of the outcome bear the fruit of your hard labour of thinking. The School of The Art Of thinking is at Birkbeck University of London.

You become a free thinker, rather than being imprisoned by the agents of the programmers of the matrix, new opportunities begin to make themselves available to you; you begin to see perspectives, you become the master of your mind, the captain of your ship, proud, creative, resourceful, wise, likable, provider of solutions, and a free sovereign.

The Benefits of Free Thinking Step #4

Practice using your thinking not only inspire your listeners, but also liberate them from confinement and tyranny of debilitating beliefs,

Freethinking overcomes ill-founded beliefs, use of force and coercion

The Benefits of Freethinking Step #5

the next step toward the ultimate freedom from the Matrix – The stage where you develop fully, the know thyself stage! The knowledge that you can create your own product, work for yourself, become a perpetual travel, and pay no tax! The liberation stage is the challenging step forward. Throughout recorded human history, only a minority have reached this stage, and there is no certainty that you cannot or can achieve this stage, only you can determine the length and the breath, the above and beyond the terrain of your own mind.

Stevie Ray Vaughan

Early life

Stephen Ray Vaughan was born on October 3, 1954 at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas to Jim and Martha Vaughan. His brother, Jimmie Vaughan, is three years older. At age 7, Vaughan acquired his first guitar, a Sears toy guitar with only three strings. Among the first songs that he learned to play were hits by The Nightcaps, a Texas garage rock band that had a national hit in 1962 with “Wine, Wine, Wine.” In 1963, Vaughan got his first electric guitar, a hand-me-down from his brother.

Early career

Jimmie Vaughan’s friend, Doyle Bramhall, heard Stevie Ray Vaughan playing a song called “Jeff’s Boogie” by The Yardbirds, and was impressed. Bramhall would help Vaughan singing and songwriting development. In 1967, Vaughan first band, The Chantones, played an outdoor show at Robert E. Lee Park in Dallas and began to advance beyond school dances and private parties. During the summer of 1970, after falling into a barrel of grease while working for a fast food restaurant, Vaughan quit his job, formed his first relatively long-lasting band, Blackbird, and devoted his working life to music.

In 1971, Vaughan made his first studio recording, sitting in with a high school band called A Cast of Thousands for a compilation album named A New Hi. The two songs that were on the album showcased Vaughan’s early burgeoning talent. During Christmas vacation, he dropped out of high school and moved to Austin, Texas with Blackbird. Their home base was a nightclub on the outskirts of town called the Soap Creek Saloon. In late 1972, he joined a rock band called Krackerjack, but quit a few months later when the lead singer decided that the band should wear theatrical makeup on stage.

In March 1973, Marc Benno added Vaughan to his band the Nightcrawlers, which was recording an album in Hollywood for A&M Records. The recording featured Doyle Bramhall on the drums, along with the beginning of a songwriting partnership with Vaughan. The album was not released, however, and the band traveled back to Texas. A year later, he found a battered 1963 Fender Stratocaster at a music store in Austin. It would remain as his favorite guitar for the rest of his life.

In late December 1974, Vaughan joined a popular Austin band Paul Ray & the Cobras, averaging approximately five shows a week. The Cobras released a record and won “Band of the Year” in an Austin music poll. Three years later, Vaughan left the Cobras and formed Triple Threat Revue with vocalist Lou Ann Barton, W. C. Clark on bass guitar, Mike Kindred on keyboards, and Fredde “Pharoah” Walden on drums. Later, Jackie Newhouse replaced W. C. Clark on bass and Chris Layton replaced Walden on drums. Vaughan and Lou Ann renamed the band Double Trouble, though Barton left in 1980 to sing for Roomful of Blues. On December 23, 1979, Vaughan and Lenora “Lenny” Bailey were married between sets at the Rome Inn nightclub in Austin.

Double Trouble

Tommy Shannon, the former bassist in Krackerjack, replaced Jackie Newhouse in 1981. In July, the band played a music festival in Manor, Texas and a videotape of the performance was given to Rolling Stones drummer, Charlie Watts. Double Trouble then played a private party for The Rolling Stones at New York’s Danceteria nightclub. On July 17, 1982, Vaughan and Double Trouble played the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the first unsigned act to perform at the event. A few in the audience started booing the loud band throughout their performance since the event was predominately acoustical music. Vaughan later met David Bowie and jammed with Jackson Browne after the show, during an after party which lasted for hours into the morning.

Bowie asked Vaughan to play lead guitar on his new album Let’s Dance. The album became Bowie’s best-selling album of his career. Bowie also invited Vaughan to go on his Serious Moonlight Tour. During the rehearsal period, Vaughan decided to attend the funeral of Muddy Waters and, thus, could not be found for 5 days. When David Bowie expressed to Stevie that he wanted him to come down a flight of stairs with a liitle dance routine while playing his guitar, Stevie realized that this was not his gig. He was not a “pop” artist and refused to rehearse dance numbers like one, soon after he quit the tour with David Bowie, and went back to focus on his music and career with Double Trouble.

Browne offered Vaughan time in his recording studio in Los Angeles free of charge, and the band accepted the offer in November 1982. In the spring of the following year, music producer John Hammond heard a tape of the band’s Montreux performance, and got the band a recording contract with Epic Records. Hammond is credited with discovering Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, among others. On June 13, 1983, the recordings in Browne’s studio morphed into Texas Flood, Vaughan and Double Trouble’s debut album, and was released to glowing reviews, selling over half a million units. Along with making an appearance on Austin City Limits, readers of Guitar Player magazine voted Vaughan as “Best New Talent” and “Best Electric Blues Guitar Player”, with Texas Flood as “Best Guitar Album”.

On May 15, 1984, Couldn’t Stand the Weather was released and hit number 31 on the Billboard charts. In October 1984, Vaughan and Double Trouble performed at Carnegie Hall. To celebrate his thirtieth birthday, Vaughan brought along an all-star supporting band, including Dr. John on keyboards and his brother, Jimmie, on guitar, who wore custom tailored velvet mariachi suits. His wife and parents flew in from Texas to share in his triumph. In November 1984, Vaughan won “Entertainer of the Year” and “Instrumentalist of the Year” at the National Blues Awards in Memphis, Tennessee.

Drug and alcohol addiction

On September 30, 1985, the band’s third album, Soul to Soul, was released, featuring new band member, Reese Wynans, on keyboards. It became their third gold album and went to number 34 on the Billboard charts. In July 1986, the band recorded shows in Austin and Dallas for their fourth album, Live Alive. On August 27, 1986, Vaughan’s father, Big Jim Vaughan, died of Parkinson’s disease. In late September 1986, Vaughan became ill while on tour in Ludwigshafen, Germany. He managed to make it through three more shows with his illness. He was then admitted into a hospital in London before he was flown to a rehabilitation center in Atlanta, Georgia . Among his addictions were extensive cocaine use and an addiction to Crown Royal whiskey. After being released clean and sober, Vaughan’s songs took on a theme of dealing with recovering from substance abuse. Songs such as “Tightrope” and “Wall of Denial”, were written by Stevie Ray Vaughan and fellow musician Doyle Bromhill.

Recovery

Vaughan struggled through two more concerts, though the last thirteen dates on the tour were canceled while Vaughan was admitted to a hospital in London. He emerged clean and sober in Atlanta, Georgia. Tommy Shannon also came out clean and sober while in Austin. Live Alive was released on November 15, 1986.

In the spring of 1987, MTV broadcast the band show in Daytona Beach, Florida as part of its spring break coverage. Vaughan also appeared in the movie Back to the Beach, performing “Pipeline” with Dick Dale. He also appeared on B.B. King Cinemax television special with Eric Clapton, Albert King, Phil Collins, Gladys Knight, Paul Butterfield, Chaka Khan, and Billy Ocean. Later that year, Vaughan filed for divorce from Lenny.

In 1988, Vaughan appeared with Stevie Wonder on an MTV special called Characters. Double Trouble also headlined a concert at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The show, featuring jams with Katie Webster, Albert Collins, and B.B. King, was filmed for a Showtime special called Coast to Coast. Vaughan’s divorce from Lenny was finalized toward the end of the year.

On January 23, 1989, the band performed at an inauguration party in Washington, D.C. for George H. W. Bush. The band’s fifth album, In Step, was released in June, and went on to win a Grammy Award for “Best Contemporary Blues Recording”.

In the spring of 1990, Vaughan and his brother recorded an album together, one that would feature the music they had grown up with. They recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis and were produced by Nile Rodgers. The brothers agreed to name it Family Style. That summer, Vaughan and Double Trouble went on tour with British soul singer Joe Cocker, touring places like Alaska and the Benson & Hedges Blues Festival.

Death

To complete the summer portion of the “In Step” tour, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble played two shows on August 25 and 26 at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, WI, while on tour with Eric Clapton.

For travel to the next venue, the tour manager reserved four helicopters to circumvent congested highway traffic. In very dense fog, the helicopters, not certified for flight under instrument flight rules (IFR) lifted off at 12:40 A.M. Just past the lift-off zone was a 300-foot hill. Vaughan’s helicopter pilot was unfamiliar with the area, and did not climb to sufficient altitude immediately after take-off. Vaughan’s helicopter crashed into the hill.

According to the findings as reported by the National Transportation Safety Board, the cause of the accident was determined to be inadequate planning by the pilot, and failure to attain sufficient altitude to clear an obstacle. Fog and haze, as well as the rising terrain were listed as contributing factors. All occupants including Vaughan, the pilot and three members of Eric Clapton’s travel group were killed on impact.

On August 31, 1990, funeral services were held for Vaughan at Laurel Land Memorial Park in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas. Brother Jimmie, mother Martha, and girlfriend Janna were in attendance. Among the mourners were Stevie Wonder, Buddy Guy, Dr. John, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, and Nile Rodgers.

The 1991 album The Sky Is Crying was the first of several posthumous Vaughan releases to achieve chart success. Jimmie Vaughan later co-wrote and recorded a song in tribute to his brother and other deceased blues guitarists, titled “Six Strings Down”. Bonnie Raitt’s 1991 album Luck of the Draw was dedicated to him. Many other artists recorded songs in remembrance of Vaughan, including Eric Johnson, Tommy Emmanuel (the song Stevie’s Blues), Buddy Guy and Steve Vai (“Jibboom” on the album The Ultra Zone, 1999) and guitarist Wayne Perkins (“Big Stratocaster”, from the album Rambling Heart). Stevie Wonder included a song on his 1995 live album Natural Wonder titled “Stevie Ray Blues”. On the album, Wonder refers to the song as “Stevie Ray Vaughan Blues”.

Musicians such as John Mayer, Robert Randolph, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Colin James, Jonny Lang, Los Lonely Boys, Mike McCready, Eric Johnson, John Petrucci, and Doyle Bramhall II have cited Vaughan as an influence.

In 1991, Texas governor Ann Richards proclaimed October 3, Vaughan’s birthday, to be “Stevie Ray Vaughan Day.” An annual motorcycle ride and concert in Central Texas benefits the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Scholarship Fund.

In 1992, the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation released the Stevie Ray Vaughan Signature Stratocaster, which Vaughan had helped design. As of 2007, the model is still in production. In 2004, Fender also released a limited edition exact replica of “Number One”. The last guitar that Vaughan played before his death is on display in the Hard Rock Cafe in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. During that same year, Vaughan’s name is mentioned in Stephen King’s You Know They Got a Hell of a Band, a short story about a town populated by late music legends.

In 1994, the city of Austin erected the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Statue at Auditorium Shores on Lady Bird Lake, the site of a number of Vaughan’s concerts. It has become one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions.

In 2000, Stevie Ray Vaughan was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. Stevie Ray Vaughan became eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.

In November 2007, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation released a second tribute to Vaughan, an exact replica of his second beloved guitar: Lenny. This guitar was given to him by his wife Lenora (“Lenny”) on his 26th birthday and Vaughan was very fond of it. According to Fender, the original Lenny was a 1965 Strat that he saw in the window of a pawn shop that he was unable to afford. The guitar is sold with a strap, a case with Vaughan’s name embroidered in the fabric lining, a number of brochures and memorabilia and a leather bound certificate of authenticity.

In 2008, residents voted to rename Dallas’ Industrial Boulevard, with Vaughan’s name being one of the finalists alongside Stanley Marcus, Eddie Bernice Johnson, and Cesar Chavez.

Influences and style

Vaughan’s blues style was influenced by many blues guitarists. Foremost among them were Albert King, Otis Rush, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, and Jimi Hendrix. He was also strongly influenced by early blues-rock guitarist Lonnie Mack, who, according to Vaughan, “really taught me to play guitar from the heart”, Vaughan, who had idolized Mack since childhood,[citation needed] produced and played on Mack’s 1985 Alligator Records album Strike Like Lightning and covered “Wham!”, which was written by Mack, among others. Vaughan’s older brother Jimmie Vaughan has stated that Johnny “Guitar” Watson was the guitarist he and Vaughan studied the most. Vaughan also cited his brother as an influence.

Vaughan’s sound and playing style, which often incorporated simultaneous lead and rhythm parts, drew comparisons to Hendrix. Vaughan covered several Hendrix tunes on his studio albums and in performance, such as “Little Wing,” “Voodoo Child (Slight Return),” and “Third Stone from the Sun.” He was also heavily influenced by Freddie King,[citation needed] another Texas bluesman, mainly in the use of tone and attack; King’s heavy vibrato can clearly be heard in Vaughan’s playing.[citation needed] Another stylistic influence was Albert Collins.[citation needed] By utilizing his index finger as a pick la Albert Collins, he was able to coax various tonal nuances from his amplifiers. Vaughan also took considerable influence from jazz guitarists such as Kenny Burrell.[citation needed]

Main musical equipment

Guitars

Stevie’s main guitar was a cherished, beat-up 1963 Fender Stratocaster he dubbed Number One. He always referred to Number One as a ‘59. “1962″ was stamped on the neck, and “1963″ was written in the body cavity. On the back of the pickups, “1959″ was written on the back. The fretboard was a “veneer” board (curved on the underside), though all of Stevie’s other rosewood-board guitars were slab-boards (flat on the underside).

Number One was 100% stock, except for the five-way toggle switch and the lefty vibrato arm. Around 1980, Stevie needed to have his vibrato arm repaired, and a lefty vibrato was the only one in stock. Number One was the only guitar with a lefty vibrato arm. All of his other guitars had righty vibrato arms. In the last tone position, a push-push pot with a dummy coil was installed in order to cut down on the hum from the single-coil pickups. Different value capacitors were also added so the tone would stay close to the original sound.

Number One had a very big neck and it may have been the biggest neck of any Strat ever made. Fender rated the necks in terms of size either A, B, C or D, D being the largest. The body was made of alder. Stevie preferred his fretwire to be as tall as it possibly could.

All of his other main guitars were vintage Strats or Strat-style guitars.

“Yellow” a single-pickup yellow Strat that had belonged to Vince Martell of Vanilla Fudge.

“Lenny” a brown-stain finish on natural wood and a 1910 mandolin pickguard behind the bridge with a maple neck.

“Butter” a 1961 Stratocaster with a slab-board

“Main” a custom-made Hamiltone guitar, which had his name inlayed on the fretboard

“Charley” a white Strat with “lipstick” pickups made for Stevie by Charley Wirz, for whom Stevie wrote “Life Without You”

Strings and picks

His string gauges, high to low, were usually .013, .015, .019, .028, .038, .058. Sometimes he’d use a slightly lighter high E string, like a .012 or .011. He always tuned down one half step.

Picks were always Fender Mediums, played on the side, round edge.

Amplifiers

Stevie used a combination of amps, all running at the same time.

Two “Blackface” Fender Super Reverbs

150-watt Dumble Steel String Singer with a 4×12 Dumble bottom

200-watt Marshall Major head with a 4×12 Dumble bottom

Two “Blackface” Fender Vibroverb amplifiers (numbers five and six off production line), with one 15″ speaker, used to power a Leslie-type Fender Vibratone cabinet with a rotating speaker inside.

His amps were all upgraded to Electro-Voice speakers.

Pedals

He always used an Ibanez Tube Screamer, starting with the original first-issue 808, followed by the TS-9 and then the TS-10 Classic.

Vintage ’60s Vox wah-wahs

Vintage Dallas-Arbiter Fuzz Face

Weight Loss Guide

Most people who read my articles and e-books know me as a science guy who likes to quote studies and apply research to everyday problems such as weight loss, bodybuilding, and other health/fitness related topics. However, sometimes you have to step back from the science and look at the big picture to help bring people back into focus, so they can see the forest for the trees, so to speak.Using a good treadmill workout program has worked for many people and individuals. Treadmill workouts not only enable users to lose weight but also help users to maintain their weight loss. Treadmill weight loss is achieved by performing workouts on treadmills by virtually any age group and individuals of any activity level. Here is the statistical information to prove the veracity of the weight loss pill. As per Lisa colles, a researcher in America, the Americans spend nearly fifty billion dollars per year for weight loss programs, weight loss pills, and products. In this almost six billion dollars are spent on nonsense and fraudulent weight loss pills and products.

It has long been known to those who are successful in business, sports, entertainment, motivation, and other areas, that one way to improve your chances of success is to sit down and write out where you are, where you want to be, and how you are going to get there. Now that we’ve identified that your mind should be on how a quick weight loss must also be a healthy weight loss, let’s get you there! We are going to address several things regarding your life and how you live it. I will give you the paths that you need to take in order for you to get to a healthy weight loss. Then you will need to go down those paths, one at a time. How well and how dedicated you are to accomplishing the completion of those paths will determine whether or not you have a quick weight loss. I will give you the tools to make a healthy weight loss also be a quick weight loss, but you must use them, and use them properly, for your healthy weight loss and quick weight loss to occur.

Phase II of your healthy weight loss and quick weight loss journey is exercise. Now that you have adopted a complete and healthy diet, and your body has all of the vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and proteins that it is supposed to, it is time to put all of that good work to use! Exercise is the next key ingredient to the amazing recipe of your healthy weight loss and quick weight loss. Not only must you exercise, but you must do so intelligently. There is no need for you to try to kill yourself in the beginning. Instead, it is better for you to take baby steps and to work yourself up to advanced workout routines. The road to a healthy weight loss and quick weight loss will only be as bumpy as you choose to make it!Coffee and soda must be eliminated from your diet to succeed in your healthy weight loss and quick weight loss journey. Soda should only be had occasionally as a reward for your hard work. For me, I have a soda when I have pizza, and that is about it. Your healthy weight loss and quick weight loss is dependent upon a minimum amount of caffeine intake, and increased water intake when drinking caffeine. The conclusion is simple – choose well known brands that many people used already and had positive results. There is no perfect weight loss aid – but weight loss pills are popular and one of the reasons is that they do help you lose weight more effectively.

English Language Software – Write, Check, Correct and Succeed!

The English language is one of the most important languages in the world to learn. Why? Well, since it is a language that is understood globally, you will be able to communicate with practically the whole world. You will be able to avail yourself of many opportunities when you know English. However, you should understand that in order to stay motivated while learning English, you need to love the language.

What is there to love about English? For one thing, it is one of the most effective languages in the world for conveying ideas. Through English, one can communicate a whole range of emotions and experiences in many different ways. The English language allows you to express ideas that other languages may not. In this way, English can help to enhance your experience of life itself.

Learning the English language allows you to share your experiences with other people. After all, what good is a story if you cannot tell it to another person? When you learn English, you will be able to read about the experiences of others, and see what the world is like from their perspectives. You will be able to share the collective experience of the world through stories and literature and be able to find out how some truly great people of the world have used words to help share emotions. Through the English language, you will be able to learn what it is like to live another person’s life and feel the joy of love in different cultures.

Loving the English language is not about simply dedicating your time to studying it – rather, it is all about learning how to really enjoy the language and savor the words. It is about letting the words affect your life in ways you may not have thought possible. It is about sitting down and opening a book or watching a movie and enjoying it the way the writer meant for it to be enjoyed. By learning English, you will be able to do all of this and even more.

Face it, you are not the only one out there making mistakes – actually many individuals make mistakes and that doesn’t make them a bad person. But, you can do something about it.

In example, when you are writing articles, you should always make sure that you got someone proof reading your article isn’t it? But not in all cases someone’s there to do that for you. That’s where some decent writing and grammar check program can jump in and watch your writing for errors while you do so. With the right type of English writing software, you are able to eliminate all of those mistakes before anyone else sees them. If you are the type that does not like to sit down and edit your writing work because you find this boring, then that is what such software is good for. You will be gaining a lot of knowledge from the feedbacks and benefit as you write proper documents, reports e-mails anytime.

if you were on a deserted island, would you give up?

I have to write a speech for english. The prompt is that I am stuck on a desert Island with 10 other people, but I am the oldest. After a couple weeks, everyone is starting to give up, but I have to motivate them to not give up (basically a motivational speech). I need examples of people or movies or real stories of people who didn’t give up in a tough situation kind of like this, to help support. So does anyone know any people or stories like that?

Look at the Tom Hanks’ Cast Away movie:

After FedEx systems engineer Chuck Noland is ripped out of his hasty life by the clock in a plane crash, he finds himself alone on the shores of a tropical island. First, frustration gets to him and then he realizes how little his chances are to ever get back to civilization. Four years later, Chuck has learned very well how to survive on his own: mending his dental health, catching fish with a spear, predicting the weather with a self-made calendar. A photograph of his girlfriend Kelly has kept his hopes alive all these years. Finally, Chuck takes the opportunity to take off for home: He sets off on a wooden raft with a sail that has washed ashore.

Loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee is the motivator:

Follow the Hollywood Scenes in Turkey

Every year hundreds of movies are shot, and luckily not all of them are filmed in front of the green cardboards in Hollywood studios. Some of them are shot in their actual environments giving us the opportunity to sense the real surrounding.

Just as a well played role would bring more business to the actors, so will a good movie to the small town or to the country it was filmed. Movies are one of the most effective ways in the presentation of a country or city. The film “Casablanca” had attracted many tourists to Morocco for years. Similarly thousands of tourists, in the footsteps of “Indiana Jones”, still travel to Jordan to see the treasury in the rock carved temple.

Sometimes you even might not enjoy the movie but the historic street you see at the background may snatch your attention and motivate you to learn more about the location the movie was shot. Or if you have already picked your next destination, why not watch a few movies filmed in that country to get into the groove?

If Turkey is one of your next destinations, here is the list of some well known movies that were shot in Turkey, mainly in Istanbul. These movies captured many touristy highlights as well as less known places which might spice up your itinerary:

• The World Is Not Enough (1999) is the nineteenth movie in the James Bond series. The film was directed by Michael Apted and it is Pierce Brosnan’s third James Bond movie. Bosphorus and Maiden tower are the major places seen in the movie. “I’ve always wanted to have Christmas in Turkey.” is the famous quote said by James Bond.

• Hitman is a 2007 film based on the same-titled video game series. An agent hired by a group known as ‘The Organization’ is trapped and finds him pursued by both Interpol and the Russian military as he treks across Russia, Eastern Europe and Turkey. In this movie you can see the backstreets of old Istanbul and crowded bazaar area.

• Gallipoli is a 1981 Australian film, directed by Peter Weir and starring Mel Gibson and Mark Lee. It is about two Australian sprinters facing the brutal realities of World War I when they are sent to fight in the Gallipoli campaign in Turkey. Although the whole movie was shot in Australia it is about the place Gallipoli which is in North West Turkey and a district of Canakkale province.

• The Accidental Spy is a 2001 Hong Kong martial arts-action film, starring Jackie Chan and directed by Teddy Chan. It all starts on one normal dull day, Bei a salesman at a workout equipment store follows his instincts to trail two suspicious looking men into an alley and this leads him to an adventurous journey from Korea to Turkey. The scene that Jackie Chan is running naked in the Grand Bazaar is the most haunting moment of the movie.

• Topkapi (1964) is a film directed by Jules Dassin and the film is based on Eric Ambler’s novel The Light of Day. The film stars Melina Mercouri, Maximilian Schell and Peter Ustinov. The movie is about a man with passport problems gets mixed up with a gang of thieves plotting to rob the Topkapi museum in Istanbul.

• From Russia with Love (1963) is the second spy film in the James Bond series with Sean Connery as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. In the film, James Bond is sent to assist in the defection of Corporal Tatiana Romanova in Turkey. Most of the movie was shot in Turkey and the major places are; Egyptian spice bazaar, Sultanahmet, Bosphorus and the Blue Mosque.

• The Net 2 (2006) is a film directed by Charles Winkler and starring Nikki Deloach, Demet Akbag and Sebnem Donmez. The life of a computer systems analyst is thrown into turmoil when, after arriving in Istanbul to start a new job. This movie was also shot in Istanbul mainly Sultanahmet district and most of the actors are famous Turkish movie stars.

• Head On (2004) is an award winning film directed by Fatih Akin. The movie is about a Turkish man called Cahit in his 40s who has given up everything in life and seeks solace in drugs and Sibel, another German Turk who has tried to commit suicide due to her conservative family. In this movie you can see the real local life in Istanbul.

Above list includes the major movies; however there are several other European, Hindi, Asian movies filmed in various parts of Turkey. If you are planning your next tour to Turkey why don’t you grab a few of above movies from your local video store and get ready for a Christmas in Turkey just like our old pal Bond.

Exercise

The benefits of exercise are myriad. It makes you feel good about yourself, burns excess body fat, grows and maintains muscle, strengthens bones and joints, helps flexibility, deepens sleep, improves appearance, creates a high, provides goals to achieve, lifts depression, relieves stress, increases self esteem, reverses and prevents disease and helps you feel alive and youthful… that is, if you do it right.

Exercise would be as normal as breathing in the wild setting. If we were not industriously finding food, building shelters and fighting off saber-toothed tigers we would not survive. Under those circumstances eating was the reward for exercise. In the modern world we don’t have to exercise to any extent to get our food. We may have cleverly changed our circumstances but we have not changed the rule that eating is the fuel and the reward for exercise. If you are not exercising you should not be eating… or at least doing very little of it. This is a natural law rarely quoted these days. Ignoring and violating it results in a penalty, obesity and disease.

But today, when essentially all of our needs are met at arm’s length, being sedentary is normal. Getting rewards for physically doing nothing is also possible. So the decision has to be made to exercise. Why do it? Because it is what your body is designed for and health cannot result without it.

Exercise can take many forms. There are four categories: work related, aerobic, strength and sport. Work-related exercise can burn calories and bring benefits if it is not extreme and relentless. The same motions and impacts done over and over, day after day, can actually tear the body down over time and result in work-related injury. Carpel tunnel syndrome from merely typing day after day at a keyboard is a good example. Be careful of excessive and repeated monotonous activity. Additionally, the body adapts to the same movements and will not improve unless there is added stress. For full benefit, other full- body exercise is important even if you have an active job.

The other three forms of exercise take conscious effort. Aerobics – running, cycling, swimming, fast walking, rapid weight lifting – helps stimulate metabolism and increase respiratory and circulatory strength, as well as endurance. Strength training—lifting weights or the like—maintains or grows strength, improves physical appearance and increases bone density reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fracture. Athletic sport can combine aerobics, strength, speed and flexibility. The ideal is a sport you can prepare for by using aerobics and strength training. Improvement goals in the sport help motivate and focus on fitness goals.

Like anything else in life that is worthwhile, exercise benefits take effort. It may mean some sweat, soreness, fatigue and even an occasional injury. In fact, if you never experience an injury or soreness, there is a good chance you do not have enough intensity, and will not get results either. “No pain, no gain” is pretty true.

Exercise like you mean it – none of the namby-pamby, faking it stuff. If you do not breathe hard or briefly exhaust muscles two to three times a week, you are probably not doing yourself any good. Do you go to a gym and spend lots of time lying on a soft mat stretching (a proven worthless “exercise”)? Did you spend $120 on those Nike cross-trainers, pay that big club fee and shop for that just right, looking good leotard workout suit to lie around stretching? (Ya gotta love this picture!) Do you do nice and easy, slow, partial reps with five lbs. while gabbing with friends or a trainer? Don’t kid yourself. Nothing comes easy. Yes, you will have to breathe hard and strain and grunt a little and even experience some soreness.

I know your personal trainer might tell you to take it easy, avoid getting sore, and the like. If your trainer looks like he or she works out, they are lying to you because they would never achieve their toned look without effort and discomfort. If they don’t look like they work out, then they shouldn’t be training you.

Recently at a gym I saw a personal trainer who looked as if training really wasn’t a part of her life, instructing a client. Weights used were miniscule, range of motion far less than it should be, constant chatter, frequent swigs on a sugared sports drink and lots of long breaks in between sets. No sweat, no strain, no breathing hard, no pushing to limits. I believe some trainers make it as easy as they can to make sure people return. Since most people don’t want any discomfort, these trainers keep workouts easy, comfortable, casual – and meaningless.

The body is naturally lazy. If the shape it is in is sufficient to do the exercise without effort, then the body will stay as it is. If you push, cause some physical stress, try for steady increases and gains, and even look for the pain, your body will respond with a new and better body capable of doing what you have demanded. Demand nothing, get nothing.

Begin an exercise program that will make a difference. Learn how to do resistance (weight) training. Emphasize compound movements like squats, dead lifts, bench presses and Olympic lifts. Avoid exercises under weight load that are not normal movements regardless of what you see in a magazine or gym. Examples include stiff legged dead lifts, behind the neck pull downs and behind the neck presses. Concentrate on good form and technique to begin and don’t rush into heavy weights. Set goals, achieve them and set new ones. Stay with it. A workout that matters is one that leaves you with little left over. For me that’s about twenty to thirty minutes. If you can work out for hours or can chat as you are doing your reps, then you do not have the intensity you should. Three times a week of intense exercise will create dramatic results if you stick with it.

You ladies who stay away from the weights because you “don’t want big muscles” need to find a better excuse. You will not grow big muscles unless you start taking male hormones. Similarly an adolescent boy or man in his eighties cannot make themselves look like Arnold no matter how much weight lifting. For the young boy that is because the anabolic male hormones have not kicked in, and for the elderly man it is because those hormones have ebbed. Weight lifting for women will improve appearance, stimulate strength and perhaps most importantly help increase and maintain bone density so as you get older you will not be as likely to develop osteoporosis or fracture bones. Weight levels for women should be chosen so that by the time you do 15-20 reps you are at failure. Don’t try to push yourself with big weights. Move weights up slowly as your 15-20 reps get too easy.

In this regard a word of caution is in order for you guys wanting to use mega-weights to pack on Herculean slabs of muscle. If you are hoisting much more than body weight you are putting enormous stress on joints, cartilage, ligaments and tendons. Over time the wear and tear will come back to haunt you with arthritis of other limiting joint and back injuries. You want staying power, not ego stroking or just a flash in the pan puffy body. Although most muscle gurus will tell you that you cannot gain serious muscle without using serious weight, the evidence does not bear that out. It may be true that if you are taking anabolic steroids and want to look like an Angus bull you may need to lift extraordinary weight. I’m not sure on that but I am not talking about freak show here, but rather fitness and health for a lifetime. Even moderate exertion for a body part over time can greatly increase its size and strength. Although I have lifted for decades (both sides of my body equally), my right shoulder and arm are dramatically larger than the left from tens of thousands of overhand swings of a badminton racket weighing only a few ounces. Many athletes develop significant musculature in the legs without ever lifting heavy weights. Softball pitchers can develop strength and size in the pitching arm almost double that of the other. Assuming you are reasonably lean, your weight reflects the capacity of your frame. A 150-pound person lifting 250 pounds is asking for trouble because 150 pounds is designed to hold 150 pounds.

Pull downs of 150 pounds is reasonable. Bench presses of 150 pounds are reasonable. Dead lifts and squats of 150 pounds are reasonable. Why? Because your frame already is handling 150 lbs. when you squat and rise (squats), pull yourself up on to a branch (chins) and push yourself up off the floor (push ups). To safely increase musculature it is much better to increase reps than to increase the load over body weight. Stick with it, be patient, have the long view and you can stay strong and look fit for a lifetime. Start swinging around the mega-weights and the right injury could sideline you for a lifetime, giving you an excuse to be weak and flabby. (I say excuse because one can always do some form of exercise regardless of their condition or limitations.)

Two or three times a week, do 15-30 minutes of aerobic work. Do it intensely enough that you breathe hard and work up a sweat. Be careful of long distance jogging, since the impact on joints can be counterproductive. If you like to run, do short sprints instead. Be careful of intense aerobics on the same days as the resistance work. Your body needs recovery.

Find an active sport you can participate in. The exercise, challenge and camaraderie of this activity can be one of life’s greatest joys.

I am not just telling you, this is what I do. Exercise and sport have always been a part of my life. I have tried about everything and have suffered with injuries from mistakes. But to this day I lift respectable weights and continue to set new goals, run sprints at good speed and compete with guys less than one third my age in difficult sports like two on two sand volleyball and one on one competitive indoor badminton (not the back yard version but the indoor, 220 mph smash kind). My ability to do these things brings great joy to life by giving me something physically to achieve, camaraderie and the sense that I am still alive and capable. Even after umpteen gazillion decades of life I am still challenging myself with weights and pressing myself with aerobics and tough sports. And yes, I do get injured. I’ve had them all, it seems. I’m presently recovering from overdoing it with stiff-legged dead lifts (lifting a heavy barbell from the floor by bending over with the legs stiff—the reason I told you above not to do this) coupled with heavy full squats (barbell on back and squatting up and down). These are difficult weight lifting movements to help increase running speed. I just recovered from shoulder and elbow injuries from too many smashes in badminton and jump serves in beach volleyball. I’m not complaining nor bragging, just letting you know that I practice what I preach. The benefits I derive, in spite of the inevitable set backs and injuries, I would like everyone to enjoy.

When you exercise, when you challenge yourself with exercise – not just coast with motions – you send a signal to the body that it needs to be alive and healthy. Your body responds to the call.

On the other hand, it can be overdone. It’s easy to figure that if a little bit helps, a whole lot will transform us more quickly into the Adonis or Venus to which we aspire. Much more than three vigorous workouts a week can yield negative results and increase susceptibility to injury. Be particularly careful of impact activities such as running on cement or the like. Although you may feel fine while doing it, your bones, joints, ligaments and tendons are being unduly stressed and eventual crippling injuries can result. If in doubt, note the career of almost any professional athlete. They peak in their twenties and retire almost always not because of lack of skill or desire, but because of overuse injury.

Keep the prototypical wild model I continue to harp about in mind. In the wild you might occasionally have to totally exhaust muscle and be unable to catch your breath running after prey or running from or wrestling with a predator. These events of extreme exertion and exhaustion are not without potential damage from the shower of physiological free radicals created when demands exceed metabolic capacity. Free radicals are like sparks in the fireplace. If the fire is modest there are few and they are contained. But if you stoke it up to roaring the sparks spitting out into the living room could set the house afire. Extreme exercise is like a roaring fire and the free radicals created can damage body structure and lead to premature aging, structural damage, immune suppression and disease. Although pushing toward the limits once in a while may help increase exercise capacity, doing it too often can, over the long term, work the opposite effects. It can be a matter of too much of a good thing.

This may seem like I am sending mixed messages, and I am. First I tell you to buck up and go at exercise like you mean it and even expect some soreness, sweat and huffing and puffing. Then I tell you that intense exercise can cause damage. How we approach exercise mirrors life: nothing good comes easy and going to extremes is dangerous. Wisdom and judgment are necessary. Besides using the wild archetypal model, listen to and observe your body. No change means you are probably being too wimpy. Dramatic change, weakness, constant exhaustion and injury may mean you are overdoing it.

You will also have to make accommodations for age… but not before it is absolutely necessary. No “too old” excuses before your time. You can be fit and athletic in your fifties and beyond. But with time everything does wear and become more fragile and thus break more easily. You cannot force your body at 70 to be what it was at 18 regardless of exercise and diet. You can most certainly reach new physical levels in your 30’s through 50’s. What age takes away in physical vigor, it gives in desire and commitment. The danger is imposing an overly ambitious will on a body without a capacity to match. With age you will notice that exercise that is too intense will feel like you are tearing down, not stimulating growth. It is. The fine line between improving or maintaining strength and fitness, and doing damage gets thinner and thinner with age. So listen to your body and adjust. Be content with being the best you can be, not trying to be what you cannot possibly be. No ninety-year-old has ever won an Olympic event or set a world’s record.

Think about the long term. You want staying power. You want to be able to exercise for life, not for a short spurt and then be incapacitated.

Your body is a gift and responsibility. It is a moral duty to take care of it. Exercise like you mean it but use the wisdom of moderation. Enjoy the health that results and the wonderful, feel-alive dimension that is added to life as well.
